A Magical Spring Break!
Now I had been promising Cortlynn that she would be able to take her first plane ride in 2019, and I knew the plane ride to Orlando would be the perfect first ride! I also did not feel like making the 6 to 7 hour drive to Orlando honestly! I mean flying would only take us about 1 hour to get there. Although flying did take up about 40 % of my budget it was worth it. See, if I would’ve planned in advance I know I could’ve found some cheaper tickets.
From reading different mommy blogs about trips to Orlando there was one tip that kept sticking out to me. Take a day for leisure to chill by the pool and rest. Now since we had only 3 days in Orlando, I decided that our chill day would be our first day. I’m glad that I decided to do this! Especially since we flew out from Atlanta at 7:50 am, don’t ask me why I booked our flight for that early in the morning. We were able to hang out by the pool at our hotel and visit Disney Springs. I was excited to check out Disney Springs, imagine an outdoor mall but Dinseyfied! I’m not sure if that is even a word. We were able to check out the Lego Store and Disney store there as well.
Our first full day in Orlando we headed to the Magic Kingdom. We were excited to put on our matching shirts and Minnie Mouse ears. I purchased our Shirts from Etsy and I made the Minnie ears myself! I refused to pay $29.99 for some ears! Upon arrival and after going through the gates we were finally at Main Street USA. It was time for us to explore the Magic Kingdom. I also had the Disney App and downloaded our fast passes for some of the rides. Let me tell you guys these fast passes were a lifesaver! The fast passes allowed us to skip the lines on about 5 rides. We had some tasty snacks and checked out the afternoon parade too! The best thing I ate were the cheeseburger egg rolls! I had planned on taking a picture of them, but after spending 30 minutes trying to find them I was hungry! Cortlynn enjoyed the Mermaid doughnut and her ice cream. Of course we checked out the fireworks that night and they were a sight to see! If you spend the day at the Magic Kingdom be sure to stay for the fireworks. They are worth it! But in all honesty we would have not been able to to see them if we hadn’t took a hotel break midday. All that walking and excitement had worn us out!
After a much needed good night sleep we headed over to Universal Studios for our last day of play. Well we thought we were at Universal, but we actually were at Islands of Adventure! That is a whole different story. At Islands of Adventure we explored Dr. Suess Land and rode every ride. We did a photo op with the Grinch and for some reason him and Cortlynn got along great. Then we explored Jurassic Park and visited The Wizardly World of Harry Potter. The best surprise of the day was taking Hogwarts Express over to Universal Studios.
After all of our adventures it was time to head back to the A. For some reason again I booked an early flight so we had to be up by 6:30 am to get to the airport. Our flight back home was smooth sailing and we were able to get home by noon.
I’m so happy that I was able to take her on this trip. We truly had a great time. Seeing the smile on her face was totally worth it!
Best!
